How it all started...
Cridersville Church of the Nazarene was founded November 15, 1970 under the devoted leadership of Rev. Vernon E. Hurles. Originally located on Main Street, where Cridersville Baptist Church stands today, the young congregation was ready to grow. In 1973, Rev. John E. Dodds took on the role of pastor, and by the following spring, the church made a bold decision: they would sell the Main Street building and start plans for a new home. While the search for a permanent space unfolded, Sunday gatherings moved to the Cridersville School Auditorium, transforming an ordinary school hall into a place of worship and fellowship.

Expanding the vision...
A momentous Sunday followed, August 10, 1975, when the congregation traveled by auto caravan from the school to its new sanctuary on a 6.4 acre site at 500 South Dixie Highway. The move was more than just a physical move, it was an indicator of growth, unity, and faithfulness that the Cridersville Nazarene family has followed since.
Where we are headed...
We believe the future of the Church is being shaped right now—in the hearts of the next generation and through lives rooted in discipleship. At Cridersville Nazarene, we're investing in kids, teens, and families, while calling every believer to grow deeper in Christ.
Grounded in grace and driven by mission, we’re building a community where faith takes root, grows deep, and multiplies across generations.
